The thing that surprised me the
most about my first FNP position
was how much I could make
people still want to see me
even when I knew very little
in the beginning, right?
So when you're first starting,
you are just so fresh
and you don't have a
ton of that knowledge.
00:16
But people would want to come back
because they were like,
Oh, you listened to me.
00:18
And I learned really early on
that, even if I wasn't sure,
I could look up the
information, right?
I could give them the care
that they eventually needed,
but I thought no one's
going to want to see me.
00:27
Like, I'm just going to sit there
and they're going to know I'm new.
00:30
But I listened and
that ended up being
one of the biggest keys to success.
00:34
And I think my whole
nurse practitioner career
is just that if you listen,
people are going to want to
come back to you
because at the end of the day,
they really just want
someone to who's going to help
them with their health care,
who listens and respects what they
have to say, and will act on it.
