Start the course on maternity nursing and care of the childbearing family

Helping new life come into the world and providing skilled and compassionate care for the childbearing family is very fulfilling and can have a lasting positive impact on families. However, maternity nursing also comes with unpredictable complications and emergencies requiring swift clinical decision-making, which can be daunting.
This course covers the key topics of maternity nursing: women’s health including understanding the menstrual cycle, the assessment and attending of a patient’s pregnancy, what to check for in the initial visit), and the main nursing tasks in antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care, such as how to evaluate a mother in active labor and what to observe in fetal monitoring. Additionally, Certified Nurse-Midwife Dr. McMillian-Bohler will explain newborn assessment, nutrition, and complications, as well as how to provide support around perinatal loss.
