Dr. Horneffer earned his MD from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in 1981, and then stayed at Hopkins to train as a Cardio-Thoracic Surgeon. He has practiced cardiac surgery for over 25 years. In 2007 he was recruited to join the Oceania University of Medicine where he ultimately served as its Executive Dean and saw it through a successful accreditation process to become the first fully online-supported international medical school to train physicians simultaneously on multiple continents. Presently he is serving as Executive Dean of the All American Institute of Medical Sciences (AAIMS), in Black River, Jamaica, where he is helping them institute a flipped-classroom approach to their curriculum using the Lecturio platform.
“The ever increasing demands on medical students to master more material mandates the creation of more efficient tools for learning. Furthermore, technology now provides the unprecedented opportunity to enable medical education to be conducted in underserved areas of need, heretofore considered impossible. I welcome the chance to join Lecturio’s outstanding team in developing state-of-the-art teaching and learning tools for our clinicians of the future.”
Stefan Wisbauer, Co-CEO of Lecturio, says: “We at Lecturio are very pleased to have Dr. Horneffer join the team. His expertise and energy will be a great asset. We share a vision to provide more effective and affordable medical education on a global scale, and look forward to working together.”
