Year 1

First-year residents may have been exposed to varying levels of clinical reasoning education and clinical scenarios during medical school.

NEJM Healer lets educators establish a baseline for each incoming resident’s clinical reasoning skill level and identify residents who need improvement. Residents can use NEJM Healer during their internship period to practice safely outside of patient encounters as they continue to master their skills.

Year 2

In their second year, residents begin to take on more direct patient-care responsibilities.

NEJM Healer can help these residents continue along their path to developing strong clinical judgment and practicing independently. Educators can use the application to quickly identify residents who aren’t meeting critical thresholds for remediation and coaching.

Year 3

Most third-year residents have mastered clinical reasoning skills and have started to move into the next stage of their career as mentor and educator to younger residents.

NEJM Healer gives third-years a formal tool for teaching and assessing their interns and undergraduate clinical students.

It seamlessly integrates into various teaching formats, including traditional lectures, flipped classrooms, and asynchronous learning environments, providing flexibility for educators and learners.

Streamline Rotation Onboarding & Offboarding

During the transition to residency, NEJM Healer + Lecturio can be used to deliver a structured bootcamp for incoming residents. At the end of each rotation, educators can assess clinical reasoning skill development, ensuring residents are progressing toward competency.

Enable Safe Clinical Skills Practice

Residents can refine their clinical reasoning in a controlled environment before applying their skills in real patient encounters. The platform helps educators identify individuals who require additional support and provides targeted remediation through structured learning pathways.

Implement a Multi-Year Clinical Reasoning Curriculum

With NEJM Healer + Lecturio, programs can track clinical reasoning development over multiple years. Residents gain structured opportunities to practice summarizing, presenting, and documenting cases effectively, ensuring continuous improvement throughout their training.

Perform Point-in-Time Assessments

Educators can leverage pre-built or custom knowledge and clinical reasoning assessments to monitor progress and pinpoint areas needing reinforcement. With both formative and summative assessments, the platform a comprehensive solution for evaluation and remediation.
